Advent was engaged to design the Auditorium which was constructed over two floors. The structure comprised of pad footings, concrete columns and conventional slabs for first floor and steel trusses to support the light weight roof.
The main challenge for this project was managing the construction support services within a tight time frame, while coordinating closely with the architects at all stages of the project to provide well-coordinated construction drawings to the builder.
The roof design included innovative connection detailing which allowed for the seamless transition of the main roof to the roof overhang. Lateral bracing members are provided without obstructing openings by utilising portal frame actions with the steel structure.
